White Board Embellishments

Hi and welcome, hope you are having a good week so far. Yesterday afternoon I fancied getting inky/painty, had noticed Tando-Creatives colour theme for May which sort of fitted in with a bag I'm crocheting at the moment so thought I'd make a couple of board flowers as embellishments to hang from the handles with some beads etc.

These are decorated on both sides, so there are a total of 4 designs.

Below is the colour chart for Tando-Creatives challenge.

I started with 2 flowers from Tando's Floral Grab Bag, punched a small hole in each one and gave all 4 sides a coat of white gesso.

On one side I added some Tim Holtz tissue tape and then painted one flower with Fresco Chalk Acrylics in Mermaid and china.

The other side was just painted.

Then added some Beach Hut and Inky Pool.

And then some Chartreuse.

The side without the tissue tape I stamped with the largest flower stamp from P.A. HP1004 in versa-mark and then white embossing powder.

On the other side I stamped the medium sized flower from Heartfelt Creations 3374 in versa-mark and used platinum embossing powder.

To both sides I added touches of Treasure Gold that I had mixed to make a purple colour--- ruby and sapphire.

Now onto the second flower, both sides were painted in Plum and Pansy.

On the first side using Tim Holtz Holiday Knits layering stencil and Dusty Concord D.I. I stencilled across the centre and then brushed the wet ink with perfect pearls mica powder.

Then added a blue bird and the word happiness with rub-ons. Then lightly rubbed with Inka-Gold in platinum.

On the reverse side I stamped using Archival Cornflower ink and the register stamp from Studio 490 Love to Make Art set. Then once dry added grunge paste through Tando's  Bird and Branch mask.
Once thoroughly dry I coloured the grunge paste with a mix of paint and Distress Markers. This side also had a little Inka-Gold added.

All 4 sides were given 2 coats of satin glaze to give them a little protection.

And once threaded on either cord or plaited crochet cotton should hang and twist nicely.

Now all I need to do is finish the second handle of the bag before attaching with beads and either some crocheted flowers or maybe something made from needle felting.

Thanks as always for stopping by, enjoy your week and take care Jane x

" If Music Be The Food Of Love "

Good evening to one and all, hope you had a restful Bank Holiday and that the strong gale force winds haven't battered you too much today. Yesterday I spent a little time in our hobby room before going outside and giving the greenhouse its annual wash, one of those jobs you know you have to do and once done, you say to yourself 'That's a good job jobbed!'
Anyway back to the hobby room ---- I decided to make a card for Crafty Individuals May Challenge titled ' A Reference to Music.' To view the DT's lovely samples and the other entries click on the link here.

To begin with I coloured my background card by pulling a print on the Gelli Plate using Fresco Chalk Acrylics in Beach Hut, Haystack and Lake Wanaka and removing some paint with an old piece of hessian.

Next I coloured another piece of white card using shaving foam and Alcohol inks in Citrus, Eggplant Pebble and Pink Sherbet.

The card coloured with alcohol inks was then stamped using CI 434 in Watering Can, clear heat embossed and cut out.

The background card was randomly stamped using CI 237 in Antique Linen DI.

The edges were inked with Vintage Photo and Seedless Preserves.

The sentiment was printed on the computer, cut out and then attached some coffee coloured lace to the back.  Using CI Elegant Swirls die I cut 3 swirls from some previously coloured card, embossed the music notes and hearts which were both from the Mini series from Tando Creative.

I stamped the hares heads onto the card so as to retain their whiskers and eyebrows. The mauve tufts of grass are the middles of the leaves from cutting the CI Floral Spray die which I had saved from a previous project !!

Then it was a case of giggling things around until I was happy with the layout.
I added a few pearl gems to hi-light the swirls.

I think this will make a rather unusual but charming anniversary card.

Thanks for stopping by and any comments are always appreciated. Hope you have a good week, takes care. Jane x
